The senior accountant is responsible for preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, preparing tax returns, assisting with audit preparations, performing other accounting duties as assigned.
This person will also be responsible for preparing monthly closing processes, forecasting and budgeting, customer billing as well as analyzing complex financial records and reports.
The Senior Accountant oversee the company's accounting operations. They regulate and authenticate financial transactions, maintain a ledger to ensure effectiveness and accuracy of all accounting tasks. It is their job to balance accounts and confirm and verify bank statements on the behalf of the company. They need experience using electronic ledger systems.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing revenue projections and forecasting expenditure.
- Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets.
- Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
- Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
- Developing new or amend accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
- Create and analyze liability, asset, and capital accounts by compiling data and required documentation.
- Summarize and prepare financial status and transactions reports, including a profit and loss statement, and other necessary reports.
- Comply with all government, and local protocols including legal requirements, and interpret new and existing legislation
- Monitor and maintain a new audit system by implementing new policies and procedures in the finance department
- Guide junior accountant and other staff members
- Focus on tax compliance, state business registration, contract review, and non-profit tax filing
- Play a vital part in the company's financial management which includes all account reconciliations and reporting to necessary parties
- Work closely with Junior accountant to assist with the month-end close
- Assist with the annual audit process including the draft of the financial statements and related reports.
Qualifications & Skills:
- At least 3+ years of experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience
- CPA preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Good communications skills
- Ability to work in a leadership role
- Excellent organizational skills
- Very detailed oriented
- Fluent in English
